Latest Updates from Our Project:

Surveys Coming Shortly
2 days ago – Wed, Nov 20, 2024 at 08:20:43 AM

We are about to send the "smoke test" surveys to 5% of the backers, and the rest of the surveys should go out some time tomorrow.

Be aware that WE WILL NOT BE CHARGING CARDS UNTIL JANUARY. Since we won't be shipping books immediately, and many people will need money for the holidays, this seems like the best way to schedule the actual payments.

Non-USA Backers: if you see a shipping charge of exactly $99 for your base pledge, please contact us. This means that you are in a country we didn't assign a shipping rate, and we will fix that.

Another note: we don't automatically add Kickstarter backers to our mailing list. If you would like to receive our occasional newsletters, you can sign up at our website, mythmeregames.com.

Thank you for supporting us in this Kickstarter!

Tome of Adventure Design PDFs: Links Sent
23 days ago – Wed, Oct 30, 2024 at 07:32:34 AM

Although we don't have a BackerKit survey yet, we have used the data from Kickstarter to do a preliminary fulfillment of the PDFs of Tome of Adventure Design. This was an add-on, so not everyone is receiving it. If you ordered it, you should now have an email from Drivethrurpg with a link to the PDF. Please check spam folders, because these emails often get flagged as spam.

If you ordered the Tome of Adventure Design PDF and did not get the email from DTRPG, please email me at Matt AT mythmeregames DOT com. There may be some errors here because I had to pick through a huge spreadsheet instead of using a BackerKit search tool.

Once you've had a chance to look at the pdf, please take a moment to leave us some stars on DTRPG -- hopefully five of them!

Just a Status Update for those Interested in the Process
24 days ago – Tue, Oct 29, 2024 at 11:09:12 AM

I have now finished the writing for Tome of Worldbuilding, and Suzy is starting the layout. That process will probably involve ordering more art for the places we can't fill with text, and whenever I see the final product I usually tweak it by adding more tables or modifying one that doesn't work well. However, it's well on its way to completion! The page count seems to be narrowing in at about 400 pages, although it's still a bit early to tell for sure.

Meanwhile I am working on the Apophenia Engine for the Nomicon (the one for the ToW is finished already) and working on creating the BackerKit survey. Those will be out soon, but not immediately. The Nomicon is also finished, but I am pretty sure I will add more miscellaneous tables. Hopefully those can all go in the Appendix, because re-numbering the tables would probably take a couple of days of work just from the searching and replacing across two huge books.

Next Steps
about 1 month ago – Thu, Oct 17, 2024 at 08:06:34 AM

For the next couple of weeks, we will be waiting for the funding to arrive and designing the BackerKit survey. Hopefully we will send the survey immediately after we receive the funding, but past experience says that it will probably take a bit longer. That survey, for those who haven't used BackerKit surveys before, will be an email from BackerKit with a link to your account, that will allow you to upgrade pledges and get add-ons if desired. There are a lot of people who want a physical copy of the Worldbuilder but a PDF of the Nomicon, and this is where you can add a single PDF to the pledge.

For all who are receiving a pdf of the Tome of Adventure Design, we will send DTRPG links as soon as we have most of the surveys in hand, so it won't be immediate (but it will be within a month or so). Trying to send those out on a rolling basis while we're still receiving surveys makes it very difficult to track, so we try to do the DTRPG distributions in bulk as much as we can.

I am working on what I think is the final completion of the drafts, the portion about population and cities, plus some discussion about different types of world-feel (sword & sorcery, grim and gritty, heavy metal, high fantasy and so on). I am expecting to hand the drafts over to Suzy for layout in a week or so, with most of that time being spent on minor edits -- minor edits on two four-hundred page manuscripts is a time-consuming task. It's likely that I will discover more things that I want to include, and that might add a week or so as well. However, we're definitely looking at starting layout within a month, and anything that's important enough for me to delay the layout process is presumably something worth waiting for.

Thank you!!
about 1 month ago – Tue, Oct 15, 2024 at 09:03:51 AM

Thank you all for backing the Kickstarter! It's time for a bit of celebration, and then tomorrow we will do an update with information about the scheduling of surveys, sending out the pdfs of Tome of Adventure Design, and other details.

For now, though, we'd just like to express our deepest gratitude for all of you, and a recognition that -- as the people who run the games -- it is all of YOU who keep the hobby alive and thriving. Please raise a glass to yourselves and the other backers as well, because this Kickstarter is probably almost exclusively backed by game masters. Here's to ALL of us!
